Our Story
How It Started
At the end of 2020, Charlie came to us from a rescue in Armenia. He was one of the last surviving puppies from a litter of nine — found too late for most, but not for him.
Charlie is mixed with the Armenian Gampr, a loyal and ancient guardian breed. Today, we're seeing dozens of dogs just like him sitting in Los Angeles shelters — many placed on euthanasia lists simply for being misunderstood or overlooked.
That's where our mission begins.
Charlie and Friends Rescue is a registered nonprofit animal rescue organization based in Sun Valley, California. Founded by Diana Dolmayan, we are dedicated to rescuing dogs at immediate risk and advocating for Gamprs and other breeds who are running out of time.
Our ranch in Sun Valley is currently under remodel and will be ready to begin full rescue operations in the coming months. But we're not waiting to start saving lives — we're already rescuing animals internationally and building the foundation for something lasting.

Our Values
Compassion First
Every decision starts with what's best for the animals. No animal is turned away if we can help.
Transparency
As a registered nonprofit, we are committed to full transparency. Every dollar goes directly to animal care.
Community
Rescue is a team effort. We work with volunteers, foster families, international rescuers, and local businesses to build a network of support.
Community Support
We are grateful for the generosity of our community. A special thank you to the families at Pilibos School and the Hearts for Paws Club for our very first donation drop-off. We aren't officially launched yet, but these donations will make a big difference the moment we are.
I started this rescue because I couldn't look away. Every animal deserves someone who won't give up on them. That's what we are — the ones who don't give up. Charlie lived because someone said yes. Now we say yes — for them.
